Check out a few of our monster mash party ideas to go along with our fun monster mash party invitations:
Signature Drink: Fuzzy Blue Monster - blue koolaid packet, sprite or lime sparkling water for a lower sugar alternative, and lime sherbert. Serve from a punch bowl that is decorated with a blue boa around the base.
Food: We are a big fan of finger foods at kids party. Less mess and no utensils needed. Brownies, cookies, veggies, fruit. Keep it simple. For added fun, give them kookie names like monster feet for the brownies and monster fingers for the carrots.
Decor: colorful balloons, streamers, table clothes are easy to find. Make a monster mural on white paper and hang them on the windows. Break out the poster paints and draw some fun monster images by hand or let the kids help. Use boas and other fuzzy items for an added texture. Fill a jar with jello, and when it is almost set, add eyeball gumballs or white gumballs. Set this on the food table, and add a flashlight or small pin light to backlight it
Activities: Monster tattoos or monster face painting, Monster Mash dance off or musical chairs, Pin the eyeball on the monster, monster bean bag toss, monster pinata. All of these things can be easily made with posterboard and paint. It does not have to be perfect. No monster is! When Ms. Paperlicious threw a monster party, we used a balloon to make a round pinata shape and covered it with blue crepe paper to make a blue monster head. Kids will love helping with this task, but start weeks ahead because the pinata takes several layers.
Favors: Halloween parties do not necessarily need specific favors. Usually the food and candy from the pinata is plenty. But if you want to send them off with a little non-candy goody, a mini-monster pencil topper is a cute idea. Find these at online party stores.
Music: Kids Bop has a fun Halloween cd, or use Itunes to find party songs. Do not forget Monster Mash!
